Tonight I posted a short history of this story, as well as an excerpt from the very beginning of the piece to give the "flavor" of the story.
From My Reflection, Darkly, is the first story I sold to Deathrealm Magazine. Editor Mark Rainey, one of those I’m dedicating this book to, was a tough nut. I’d sent him very literally every story I’d ever written. None was quite right. When I sat down to write this story, I targeted that magazine, the dark Lovecraftian feel of it, and the fiction I loved that was published in those pages – like The Encyclopedia for Boys, by Jeff Osier and Smoothpicks, by Elizabeth Massie, just to name a couple. I wanted to join that club – to be one of the cool kids. Now Beth, Jeff, Wayne Allen Sallee, James Robert Smith, and all those who joined us there…this one is here for you. There are other Deathrealm stories in this book, but this was the first.
