The Contest

The trade paperback edition of this book (which is also signed) is already available.  You can order it by clicking one of the various links at the bottom of this post, and I would love to hear from you if you get and read it.  Feedback is such a rarity in this business…

The Signed, Limited HC edition of the book, and the Deluxe Lettered Edition of the book, are still forthcoming, and there are still some copies left.  With that in mind, I’ve done what I can to make it interesting.  Because everyone loves something for free, I’ve created a contest.  To be entered, all ou have to do is to order a copy of the limited or lettered edition of the book before they are back from the printer and ready to ship.  Your name will be entered into a drawing, and one lucky reader will win.

I created a tray case, of sorts, from a fancy old candy box - some felt - etc. It’s not great, and will probably not stand the test of time quite as well as the leather-bound, hand-sewn book (I made that too…) - but it makes a nice display. On the cover I hand-scribed a copy of an original letter from Jack the Ripper to the police.

The bullseye lantern (also included) is authentic. It dates from around the time of the Ripper murders, and could well have been carried by a Bobby on the street at the time of the murders…I bought it for research on the title story - ENNUI - which is a sort of nod to Patricia Cornwell and her theory that Walter Sickert was Jack the RIpper (though — Patricia — far from CASE CLOSED)  Also included in this edition are some illustrations (rough, simple illustrations) that were going to be worked up into detailed art…and ended up being removed due to page length…this is a huge book.  This edition comes in over 360 pages.

The signed and limited 100 copies use colored imitation leather, headers, colored book ribbons, spine stamped, natural vellum end papers.  All DR fiction collections are 6 x 9 and printed on a natural vellum 60lb. stock. All DR collections include a full color dustjacket.  The cost of this edition is $50.
The A-Z lettered editions are bound in bonded leather with full colored headers, colored book ribbons, colored end papers, spine stamped, front cover stamped, tissue paper over the signature page which is signed by the author and artist, and includes dustjackets and slipcases.  The cost of this special deluxe lettered edition is $150.
